The End (Goal) of Wounding

When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to King Jareb but he is unable to heal you, or to cure you of your wound. Hosea 5:13

I confess - I have read good books to escape a troubled conscience. It's different for everyone. We all have outlets when cornered by God. Nevertheless, when God wounds your conscience, don't run to men - even good men. The wound has a purpose, and the purpose is repentance. Yet even repentance is not the final end. The end is fellowship; either restored or deeper communion with God. Repentance is merely an obstacle-remover. God Himself is the end. So next time you feel the lance from the Great Physician, lay aside even the good things of this age to seek the age to come.

Come, let us return to the LORD for He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us...So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD His going forth is as certain as the dawn; and He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth. Hosea 6:1, 3
